LightShine Base Camp Set Up Team – 2019

One more person is needed who has general carpentry skills.

Our Set Up Team will be responsible for turning our cookhouse building into a usable building for cooking and eating all of our meals. In August of 2018, we invested some time and money into an existing “shack” on our new property and now we are going to use it as a cookhouse for all of our teams this summer. You can see the work that went into it from these two “before and after” photos. There is now a new floor inside with no middle wall. The goal is to build a kitchen on the far end with the door and have table on this end.

We will be installing a water tank inside the lean to addition (on the other side of the cook house) and installing a shower and kitchen sink inside the building with a temporary grey water pit (pre-dug in front of the building).  We also have to install a propane stove and water heater as well. An electric line will be laid to this cook house in a trench we dig with a ditch-witch from an existing building on the property about 100 feet away.

This team will also be building an outhouse and installing it over a pit that we had dug in August. Currently it is covered with wood skids pictured here.

The goal of this team is to put all these systems in place that will provide the tools we need to feed all of our teams that serve with us in Alaska in 2019.  The new garage will be built to the left of this building on a pad that has been prepared behind the trees that you see in this photo of the cook house.

One more person is needed who has general carpentry skills. You will be joining three others for this team.

The cost of this trip is $1850 and will include airline tickets, and three meals per day. Because this is a missionary team assignment, you should expect to start each day with prayer and a devotional from the Bible.

Becoming A Team Member

If you want to be part of this team, please complete this Registration Form with a $40 registration fee.  This fee covers the cost of an embroidered Carhartt team shirt and locks you in as a team member. Then you will be able to begin the process of raising the $1850 for this trip. Once you are contacted by your team leader and your place is secured on this team, you can begin raising financial support by sending out support letters to your family and church friends. Simply have them send missionary support to us for your trip costs. Your team leader will help you develop your support letter and include two important dates for your supporters to note.
