May 6 – 15, 2022
Here is your opportunity to serve with us in beautiful Homer this year. Many people come here for its beauty and quaintness. The Homer Spit is one of Alaska’s favorite destination ports. It is where the road ends and is truly is a special place.
Since 2018 we have had the privilege of partnering with Regent Life Church – helping to renovate their church building to better reach the city of Homer. They are now seeking the LORD on building other ministries to help the people of Homer.
This team will actually be working in two places, Homer and Seward. The team will be split for a couple of days with 3 team members staying in Homer and working at Regent Life Church to put siding on the church. Once that project is completed, they will join the team in Seward on Tuesday or Wednesday. The rest of the team will be staying in Seward for the week and working on several projects at a couple of different churches. More details to follow as we get a team assembled and work with the leadership in Seward on project details. We need your help!
This team will be co-led by Nancy Landis. Nancy has been a leader in LightShine for 9 years and is on our leadership team. She will be assembling the team and then working with Steve and Renee Hoey who reside and minister in Anchor Point near Homer.
Together, they are looking for 6 able bodied people who are able to lift, move and clean things and want to serve the Lord together as a team.
The cost for any of LightShine’s trips is $1850 plus a $40 one time registration fee (if you have never served on a LightShine team before). Cost of trip covers airfare, food, transportation and administration expenses. You will receive an embroidered Carhartt team shirt included in the registration fee. Please click below to continue the registration process.
If you want to be part of this team, please complete this Registration Form with a $40 registration fee.
Once you are contacted by your team leader and your place is secured on this team, you can begin raising financial support by sending out support letters to your family and church friends. Simply have them send missionary support to us for your trip costs. Your team leader will help you develop your support letter and include two important dates for your supporters to note. The first financial deadline for half your support ($925) is due on March 11, 2022. This first deadline is very important to keep because it will enables us to purchase your airline tickets. Once airline tickets are purchased, there is no backing out of the team. The second deadline for your entire amount is due April 8, 2022. Please note that these deadlines are strictly enforced. Not keeping them will cause us to ask you to step down from this team and consider another future team.
The earlier you register the sooner you can start raising your financial support. We encourage you to get this out of the way early so you can enjoy the experience without any distractions. You will be so glad you did!
