Base Team 2 – 2025

This coming summer, we are going to be dedicating 3 Base Teams to do the following:

  1. Base Team 1 – Prepare two foundations and general site work. One for the House Garage and the other for the Main Garage. Bring in lots of stone and dirt and landscape around the foundations and plant grass.
  2. Base Team 2 – Build the House Garage. Removing 2 garage doors from the Bunkhouse and installing them on this garage. Framing in the Bunkhouse walls were the garage doors used to be.
  3. Base Team 3 – Build the Main Garage.

Base Team 2

This artist’s rendering (below), shows the placement of the House Garage. Lord willing, Base Team 1 should have the foundation in place and the cement pad poured and ready for framing. The goal of Base Team 2 will be to frame the House Garage, put on the metal roof and install windows and doors. Two garage doors from the Bunkhouse will be removed and moved to this new House Garage.

This team will go as far as time allows on the House Garage. Obviously there are other aspects of this building that could be done like installing soffit and facia, and work inside. There will also be work to do in the Bunkhouse when the two garage doors are removed.

Skills Needed

This team will need people skilled in framing, carpentry, roofing and skill in installing windows and garage doors. 

Our teams have a wonderful time together. We eat well and sleep in nice beds with modern bathrooms and shower available. This will be an awesome team and you will enjoy the fellowship!

The cost of this trip is $1975. 

Our trip cost covers everything you need once you leave your home until you return. The total is determined by analyzing the cost of team assignments from previous years (things like your airline ticket, ground transportation, three meals a day, and many administrative fees that LightShine incurs) and combining that experience with known costs in Alaska.

If you want to be part of this team, please complete this Registration Form with a $40 registration fee. This fee covers the cost of a LightShine Alaska team shirt and locks you in as a team member. Once you are contacted by your team leader and your place is secured on this team, you can begin raising financial support by sending out support letters to your family and church friends. Simply have them send missionary support to us for your trip costs. Your team leader will help you develop your support letter and include two important dates for your supporters to note. The first financial deadline for half your support ($987.50) is due on May 3, 2025. This first deadline is very important to keep because it will enables us to purchase your airline tickets. Once airline tickets are purchased, there is no backing out of the team. The second deadline for your entire amount is May 17, 2025. Please note that these deadlines are strictly enforced. Not keeping them will cause us to ask you to step down from this team and consider another future team. Please take time to review our “Policies” page for more information.

The earlier you register the sooner you can start raising your financial support. We encourage you to get this out of the way early so you can enjoy the experience without any distractions. You will be so glad you did! A side benefit on this trip is seeing God’s beautiful creation and spending time working in it. This will be a life changing experience for you and will give you a new perspective on helping those who are really in need!
