Randy is the Director of Team Leaders for LightShine. Randy is responsible for developing training systems in Pennsylvania for preparing our team leaders to groom and serve their team members. Randy collaborates with our other leaders to discuss how to best accomplish this task from a ministry perspective – not simply as a “git’r’done” work team. Much of his job is delegating to other leaders to maintain the excellence that is expected from our team leaders.
When new ministry opportunities require a team leader, Randy communicates with the rest of our Leadership Team to determine who to appoint as the team leader for that new assignment. He will also decide if trained individuals are considered “team leaders” (the spiritual overseers and planners of a team) or “project managers” (more gifted in the trades and preparing the work). Randy holds these individuals to account for upholding the Mission, Vision & Values Statements of LightShine.
Randy also leads the discussion in group events whenever strategies for team leading is the topic.
Personal History With LightShine
I was introduced to LightShine in the spring of 2019. My children went to a Sportsman’s Banquet and LightShine had a booth there. They came home with plans to go and wanted me to sign up and go with them. I did. We went to Globe Creek Camp which is a Bible camp 38 miles north of Fairbanks, Alaska along the haul road to the north slope where the Alaska Pipeline starts.
Globe Creek Camp hosts a children’s summer camp for several weeks each summer and a winter camp during spring break in March. Churches use the camp for retreats.
In 2020 I went and worked at the base. In 2021 they asked me to lead the team to Globe Creek Camp because Mel was going to lead more teams to the base. I led a team to Globe Creek Camp in 2021 and every year since then. Above are two photos of winter camp and below is a view from the camp’s zip-line tower in the summer. LightShine has been helping build this camp since 2007.
My wife and I were married on April 19, 1997. We have 7 children and 2 grandchildren. I’ve had the opportunity to take this trip with 5 of our kids so far. I love taking our teens and young adults along on these trips so they can see how other people love God and live. I appreciate that my wife supports me on these trips. I’ve been involved in the trucking industry for 30 years. As a young child I wanted to be a missionary … and, I guess, here I am!
