Copper Center Community Chapel 2024

June 7 -16  Team is filled!

LightShine Alaska is sending a team back to Copper Center in 2024 from Living Water Community Church in Harrisburg, PA!

Here is some history of LightShine’s work in Copper Center

LightShine has been working with Copper Center Community Chapel since 1996 when Ministry Founder -Tom Denlinger first met Mike Potts who was pastor at that time. He and his wife Adeline continue to be friends of our ministry to this day. We helped build Strelna Lake Wilderness Bible Camp from 1998 – present (which is a ministry of the church) and we helped build the new church building in 2011 – 2012 that is located in the Village of Kluti-Kaah under the direction of Craig Norwood (also a former pastor and missionary with Village Missions). Craig & his wife Lani were instrumental in organizing many building projects and building into the lives of many people. We helped them transform the old church building into a parsonage as well as build new buildings and maintain old ones at Wrangell Mountain Bible Conference. We have seen different pastors come and go throughout the years but we have remained loyal to helping them whenever they asked.

Ron Paull is the current pastor and he and his wife Jean currently live in the new parsonage. Our desire is to serve this church and community. As part of this team, you will learn about how this local church impacts the Alaska Native Ahtna people of the Copper River Valley and others who came here. There is much to learn about this culture and how God is working among them.

Projects will include working on the church parsonage and projects at the Wrangell Mountain Bible Conference grounds and buildings.

Mel Miller has been leading teams with LightShine Alaska for the last 15 years and serves on the official board of LightShine International Ministries. His love for people and connecting the needs of Body of Christ in Alaska with those who want to serve is his passion.

If you want more information on this team assignment, contact Mel at: 717-418-6089 or email him at: melmiller516@gmail.com

The cost of this trip is $1975. Our trip cost covers everything you need once you leave your home until you return. The total is determined by analyzing the cost of team assignments from previous years (things like your airline ticket, ground transportation, three meals a day, and many administrative fees that LightShine incurs).

If you want to be part of this team, please complete this Registration Form with a $40 registration fee. This fee covers the cost of a LightShine Alaska team shirt and locks you in as a team member. Once you are contacted by your team leader and your place is secured on this team, you can begin raising financial support by sending out support letters to your family and church friends. Simply have them send missionary support to us for your trip costs. Your team leader will help you develop your support letter and include two important dates for your supporters to note. The first financial deadline for half your support ($987.50) is due on April 19, 2024. This first deadline is very important to keep because it will enables us to purchase your airline tickets. Once airline tickets are purchased, there is no backing out of the team. The second deadline for your entire amount is May 10, 2024. Please note that these deadlines are strictly enforced. Not keeping them will cause us to ask you to step down from this team and consider another future team. Please take time to review our “Policies” page for more information.

The earlier you register the sooner you can start raising your financial support. We encourage you to get this out of the way early so you can enjoy the experience without any distractions. You will be so glad you did! A side benefit on this trip is seeing God’s beautiful creation including mountains, moose and maybe even the northern lights. This will be a life changing experience for you and will give you a new perspective on helping those who are really in need!

“O Lord our God, let your sweet beauty rest upon us.
Come work with us, and then our works will endure;
you will give us success in all we do.”
