Steve and Renée Hoey have been married for over 38 years, have two grown children and five grandchildren. They have been serving the Lord with LightShine Ministries since 2012 when they resided in Lancaster, PA. During that time period they filled several roles with the organization. From team-members, to team leaders and Steve as Director of Team Leader Development, serving short-term in various locations throughout Alaska. For many years they led teams to the native Village of Gulkana, in the heart of the Copper River Valley. In 2020 they came on as full-time Missionaries and reside just north of Homer on the Kenai Peninsula. Steve currently serves as our Director of Alaska Ministries. In this role he and Renee are responsible for maintaining year-round relationships with all of our current ministry partners as well as developing new ministry opportunities along with our leadership team. Many parts of Alaska are very remote and Steve and Renée get to encourage our ministry partners all over the State, who faithfully serve the Lord in what God has called them to do.
Year round, Prison Ministry is part of what Steve and Renée have been called to do along with serving in their role as Directors. Twice a week Steve goes into the prison in Kenai and leads Bible studies as well as encouraging, discipling and evangelizing the men that are incarcerated there. Once a month, and on special occasions, Steve and Renée both go in to lead Sunday services for the men. God is richly blessing this ministry as the church is alive and well behind bars in Alaska. Men are coming to Christ and growing in their faith. Renée is involved in discipleship of ladies in the community as well as ministering to some of the wives of those men who are incarcerated.

Steve and Renée need to raise $7000 per month in missionary support. The support money raised will allow them to live and accomplish the things that are necessary to fulfill their calling. Alaska is a big and expensive place to live and they need to be able to travel hundreds of miles throughout the year.
