Last summer we built two garages that house all of our vehicles, trailer and tools. These buildings are vital to the mission of what we do all across the state. We need to finish them and that is the goal of this team.
Whoever joins this team will surely find their place in the work that needs to be done!
There is a need for carpenters who can cut and install half round wood siding. “Siding Team 1” will have started the work of installing and coating siding at the end of May. But we will still need help coating more boards like you see below. There may also be various inside carpentry work to do as well as stone mason work – depending how far the “Stone Mason Team” gets the week before.
By the way, if you desire a longer experience in Alaska, consider coming the week before during the Stone Mason Team’s week and we can coat and install siding that week as well! The teams are back to back and will be both working together at the LightShine Missions Base.
Whether you are a skilled carpenter or simply know how to use a brush, please consider being part of this team. This is an important final step in finishing the exterior of these two buildings.

Tom Denlinger will be leading this team. Tom has been leading teams for 31 years and desires to give you much more than just a building experience. We will be getting into the Word each day and challenging one another to be all that God has prepared for you to do!
Tom will also be planning a day to take you north to see some of the ministry locations in the Copper River Valley. That day will be a long day of travel but you will see some amazing sites and meet some wonderful friends who we partner with in ministry. This team will give you a good overall look at what we do in Alaska and give you a lot of vision for the future.

The cost of this trip is $2175.
Our trip cost covers everything you need once you leave your home until you return. The total is determined by analyzing the cost of team assignments from previous years (things like your airline ticket, ground transportation, three meals a day, and many administrative fees that LightShine incurs) and combining that experience with known costs in Alaska.
If you want to be part of this team, please complete this Registration Form with a $40 registration fee. This fee covers the cost of a LightShine Alaska team shirt and locks you in as a team member. Once you are contacted by your team leader and your place is secured on this team, you can begin raising financial support by sending out support letters to your family and church friends. Simply have them send missionary support to us for your trip costs. Your team leader will help you develop your support letter and include two important dates for your supporters to note. The first financial deadline for half your support ($1087.50) is due on May 15, 2026. This first deadline is very important to keep because it will enables us to purchase your airline tickets. Once airline tickets are purchased, there is no backing out of the team. The second deadline for your entire amount is May 29, 2026. Please note that these deadlines are strictly enforced. Not keeping them will cause us to ask you to step down from this team and consider another future team. Please take time to review our “Policies” page for more information.
The earlier you register the sooner you can start raising your financial support. We encourage you to get this out of the way early so you can enjoy the experience without any distractions. You will be so glad you did! A side benefit on this trip is seeing God’s beautiful creation and spending time working in it. This will be a life changing experience for you and will give you a new perspective on helping those who are really in need!
